58-year-old New Zealand film actor and director Russell Crowe will star in the supernatural thriller The Pope’s Exorcist. It is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Crowe will play the role of the famous Italian priest Gabriele Amorta. During his ministry, he performed over 100,000 exorcisms for the Vatican.
The film will be based on Father Amorth’s memoirs, The Exorcist Tells His Story and The Exorcist: New Stories. Julius Avery, who directed the thriller Youngblood (2014) and the action movie Overlord (2018), will direct.
Crowe recently completed filming Kraven the Hunter and his latest directorial effort, Poker Face. The next films with the participation of the actor, which will be released on the screens, will be “Thor: Love and Thunder” by Taika Waititi and “The Greatest Beer Run” by Peter Farrelly.
