A method of cancer treatment using light has been developed

An international team of scientists from Great Britain, Poland and Sweden has developed a way to treat cancer with the help of light. This is reported by The Guardian.

svet42e3bccThe technology of photoimmunotherapy is based on the addition of a fluorescent dye to the tumor, which illuminates the smallest cancer cells and helps surgeons more thoroughly treat oncological diseases. With the help of illumination, tumor cells begin to glow in the dark.

In experiments conducted on mice with glioblastoma, this technology significantly improved the visibility of cancer cells, and also caused an antitumor effect when exposed to infrared light, which can prevent the appearance of cancer after surgery.

In June 2022, Russian specialists presented a device that is a hybrid nanophoton sensor capable of quickly and efficiently detecting cancer tumors, as well as assessing the effectiveness of therapy.
